HC appeals - criminal, civil

New business includes all appeals filed in High Court.

HC civil

New business includes cases that have been deemed ready for a defended hearing with a High Court judge, and is limited to general proceedings, originating applications, judicial review proceedings, and defended interlocutory applications.

HC criminal jury trial

New business includes cases arriving in High Court for trial, cases where a retrial has been directed, split cases and cases transferred under s70 into High Court.

Disposals at completion of sentence, delivery of final judgment or earlier outcome

HC appeals - criminal, civil

The sum of cases disposed, where disposal for a given case was counted at the delivery of final judgment, or earlier outcome.

HC civil

The sum of cases disposed following being deemed ready for a defended hearing with a High Court judge, where disposal for a given case was counted at the delivery of final judgment, or earlier outcome. It is limited to general proceedings, originating applications, judicial review proceedings, and defended interlocutory applications.

HC criminal jury trial

The sum of cases disposed, where disposal for a given case was counted at the completion of sentencing, or earlier outcome.
Disposals include cases disposed when sentencing or final outcomes are established on all jury trial charges, or when all active jury trial charges are joined into another case.

Disposals are recorded in the categories of Not Proceeded with on Indictment, Discharged Section 147,
Other Outcome, Found Not Guilty, Convicted and Discharged, Convicted and Sentenced and Joined.

Total active cases - all cases awaiting substantive hearing or awaiting sentencing, final judgment or final outcome
