New Business
DC Criminal Jury Trial
New business includes cases committed for trial, cases where a retrial has been directed, severed cases and the difference between cases transferred into and out of the court. It excludes cases reactivated in the court due to the execution or withdrawal of a warrant to arrest.
DC Criminal Pre - Committal & Youth
New business includes cases filed with indictable laid charges, cases where there has been an election of jury trial, cases where a rehearing has been directed, severed cases and the difference between cases transferred into and out of the court.
It excludes cases reactivated in the court due to the execution or withdrawal of a warrant to arrest.
DC Criminal Summary & Youth
New business includes cases filed, cases where a rehearing has been directed, severed cases and the difference between cases transferred into and out of the court. It excludes cases reactivated in the court due to the execution or withdrawal of a warrant to arrest.
DC Civil Defended
Civil new business includes cases where a defence has been filed, cases where a rehearing has been directed and the difference between cases transferred into and out of the court.
DC Family Court
New business includes applications filed and the difference between applications transferred into and out of the court.
Disposals
DC Criminal Jury Trial
The sum of cases disposed, where disposal for a given case was counted at the completion of sentencing, or earlier outcome.
Disposals include cases disposed when sentencing or final outcomes are established on all jury trial charges, or when all active jury trial charges are joined into another case. Disposals are recorded in the categories of Not Proceeded with on Indictment, Discharged Section 347, Other Outcome, Found Not Guilty, Convicted and Discharged, Convicted and Sentenced and Joined.
DC Criminal Pre - Committal & Youth
The sum of cases disposed or committal for trial, where disposal for a given case was counted at the completion of sentencing or final outcome.
This definition recognises a pre-committal case as disposed when final outcomes are established on all indictable laid and elected case charges prior to committal for trial.
DC Criminal Summary & Youth
Disposals include cases when sentencing or final outcomes are established on all charges. Disposals are recorded in the categories of Withdrawn/Discharged without conviction, Other (Stays, mental health), Found Not Guilty, Convicted and Discharged, Convicted and Sentenced and Joined.
DC Civil Defended
Disposals include cases with final judgement or final outcome determined by the Court.
DC Family Court
Disposals include applications with final judgement or final outcome determined by the Court.
Total active
DC Criminal Jury Trial
Active cases are those which are awaiting Jury Trial or are awaiting sentencing or final outcome, and are not On Hold.
DC Criminal Pre Committal & Youth
Total active means that the case is able to be progressed as at least one case defendant is not subject to an outstanding warrant.
DC Criminal Summary & Youth
Active cases are those which are awaiting defended hearing or are awaiting sentencing or final outcome, and are not On Hold.
DC Civil Defended
Active civil cases are those which are awaiting substantive hearing or are awaiting final judgment.
DC Family
Active family applications are those which are awaiting substantive hearing or are awaiting final judgment.
